Who We Are

Internet Happens is a freelance web design and internet marketing business operated by Christopher Bailey, serving Tulsa, Oklahoma and clients across the state. This policy applies to https://internethappens.com and covers how information is collected and used when you visit this site, submit a form, or appear as a listing in our business directory.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly. When you submit a contact form on this site, we collect your name, phone number, email address, the service you're interested in, any message you include, and -- on the law firm page -- your firm name and practice area. We also log the submitting IP address for spam prevention and record-keeping.

Phone number taps. When you tap or click a phone number link on this site, we record the page you were on, the time, and your IP address, and send ourselves an email notification so we know a call may be coming. This does not record the phone call itself, and we don't receive your phone number unless you actually call.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use analytics tools that collect standard technical information -- pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. If you accept on the cookie banner, we also use a session-recording tool (Microsoft Clarity, described below). We also keep a log of requests for pages that don't exist (the requested address and the referring page, without your IP address) so broken links can be fixed.

Business directory information. If your business appears in our free Oklahoma business directory, the information shown (business name, category, address, phone number, website, and related links) was either sourced from publicly available business information or submitted directly by the business. See "Business Directory Listings" below for how to update or remove a listing.

Tools & Services We Use

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site, protect it from spam, and understand how it's used. We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone, for any reason.

Google Tag Manager & Google Analytics

Google Tag Manager is a tool that loads our analytics code; it doesn't collect personal information on its own. Through it, we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand site traffic and improve the site over time. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technology to collect information such as pages visited, time on site, and general location. We use this data in aggregate and do not use it to identify you personally. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Microsoft Clarity (only if you accept)

If you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site. Clarity captures how you interact with pages -- clicks, scrolling, mouse movement, and taps -- and can produce heatmaps and replays of browsing sessions, which we use to find confusing pages and fix them. Clarity is set up to mask text you type into form fields. Clarity uses cookies, and the data is processed by Microsoft under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. If you click "Decline," Clarity does not load. You can change your choice any time with the "Cookie Settings" link at the bottom of every page.

Google Search Console & Bing Webmaster Tools

We use Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools to monitor how this site appears in search results and to find technical issues. When we publish or update a page, we notify Bing and other participating search engines through the IndexNow protocol; this sends only the page's web address. These tools give us aggregate search data and do not collect personal information about individual visitors.

Google reCAPTCHA

Our contact forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and automated abuse. reCAPTCHA loads only once you start using a form. It collects hardware and software information, including device and application data, and sends this data to Google for analysis. This use is subject to Google's own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Resend (Email Delivery)

When you submit a contact form, your submission is transmitted through Resend, a transactional email service, to deliver your message to us and send you a confirmation reply. Resend processes this data solely to deliver the email and does not use it for its own marketing purposes. Our phone-tap notifications are also sent through Resend.

YouTube (Embedded Videos)

Some articles include embedded YouTube videos. These use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't store information about you until you play a video. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect viewing information under Google's Privacy Policy.

Social Media

We share our articles on social platforms including X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, and the site links to our profiles there. Links we share may include tags (such as "utm_source=x") so our analytics can tell which platform a visit came from. This site does not run social media tracking pixels or advertising tags. If you follow a link to a social platform, that platform's own privacy policy applies.

GoDaddy (Hosting)

This site is hosted on infrastructure provided by GoDaddy. As with any web host, standard server logs (such as IP addresses, request timestamps, and browser information) are retained by GoDaddy as part of normal hosting and security operations, separate from anything we actively collect.

Cookies & Your Choices

This site uses cookies and similar browser storage from Google Analytics and Google reCAPTCHA, as described above. Microsoft Clarity cookies are used only if you click "Accept" on the cookie banner. We also store your cookie choice in your browser so the banner doesn't reappear on every visit. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not run retargeting ad pixels.

You can change your Clarity choice any time using the Cookie Settings link (also in the footer of every page). You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies entirely may affect how well parts of this site function, such as spam protection on contact forms.

California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA) Notice

For visitors in California: this site uses the analytics, spam-protection, and phone-tap notification tools described above, which involve automated processing of your browsing activity and form submissions. Session recording (Microsoft Clarity) runs only if you affirmatively click "Accept." By using this site -- including browsing its pages and submitting any form -- you consent to the remaining processing as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not consent, please discontinue use of the site, or contact us directly by phone instead of using the online form.

Business Directory Listings

Our free Oklahoma business directory lists local businesses to help them gain visibility online. If your business is listed and you'd like the listing corrected, updated, or removed, contact us at chris@internethappens.com and we'll handle it promptly.

How We Use Your Information

Information submitted through contact forms is used solely to respond to your inquiry, provide the services you've requested, and maintain a record of business communications. We do not share your contact information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Data Retention

Contact form submissions and phone-tap records are retained as part of our business records. Analytics and session-recording data are retained according to Google Analytics' and Microsoft Clarity's standard retention settings. You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting us directly, subject to any legal or business record-keeping requirements.

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your Rights

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
